Marking Time

Marking Time is an homage to the women artists Agnes Martin, Alma Thomas, and the Gee’s Bend quilters—whose work has profoundly inspired Grassi’s practice. The series merges modernist abstraction with textile and craft traditions, where repetition lends itself to a meditative process of making and marking time.  In this body of work, Grassi continues her visual language and her ongoing practice of honoring the legacies of women artists, scientists, and mathematicians—creating layered, rhythmic compositions that reflect on memory, labor, and the passage of time.
